Block Sports Chiropractic & Physical Therapy have been a co-sponsor for the Long Island Run and Dog Walk for the last several years. We have teamed up to support America’s VetDogs, the foundation responsible for training and placing hundreds of service dogs with wounded and/or disabled veterans.

America’s VetDogs was established in 2003 in hopes to improve and enhance the quality of life for disabled veterans, active-duty and first responders. The foundation trains dogs to be able to provide support with daily activities to improve independence and/or provide emotional support. Multiple dogs from America’s VetDogs have even been featured on The Today Show.  The training center is in Smithtown, NY but requires several volunteers to take dogs home with them to continue training. The dog can be with the trainer for over 1 year before being united with his or her companion.

Training costs are often well over $50,000 for one service animal. As you can imagine, America’s VetDogs relies heavily on volunteer work and fundraising. They are always looking for volunteers to assist at the Smithtown location. Another way to help is joining us at the 5th Annual Long Island Run and Dog Walk. It is a timed 5k-run for those who are interested in racing, or you can walk 2 miles with friends, families and dogs! What more could you ask for?
